Giant Eagle Contract Ratified!

Giant Eagle Members,
I am pleased to announce that Giant Eagle members have overwhelmingly voted to approve a new 3-year union contract, retroactive to July 1st, 2018. This new contract includes significant increases to starting and hourly wages, improved benefits, a signing bonus, stronger anti-discrimination language, and much more. I would like to thank the union bargaining committee for all their hard work to achieve this agreement for you. Additional contract highlights are listed below. HIGHLIGHTS OF GIANT EAGLE GROCERY CONTRACT AGREEMENT
Contract is retroactive to the expiration date
Wage increases each year of the contract
Starting wages increased each year of the contract
Changes to vacation scheduling
Lead and Assistant's premium increases
Changes to lead and assistant team leader language and job responsibilities
Cash Office, Service Desk premium increased
Modification of full time workweek
Front End Coordinators to get a premium
Night premiums increased
Changes to temporary and permanent transfer language
Protection of health benefits with no weekly co-premiums
Improvements in Eye, Dental, Life and AD&D benefits
Improved the amount of time needed to be eligible for Disability Benefits
Increase in the Legal Benefit
Bereavement Leave improvement
Stronger non-discrimination language
Increase the minimum hours per week for part-time employees
More full-time jobs to be created
Improved the number of weeks needed to split vacations into days
